Dark Constellations: The Black Sea of Trees

from Quiet Drones 10 by Quiet Drones

/

about

Dark Constellations originated in early 2017, formed by sonic explorers Rob Boak and David S. Faris. The group’s material incorporates aspects of ambient, drone, abrasive sounds, hazy guitar tones, and disorienting loops. Rob Boak (Interstellar, Mean Red Spiders, Cinemascope) brings his signature processed guitar sound, keyboard drones, and production skills to the project, while David S. Faris (Parade, Digital Poodle, Atonement) contributes atmospheric electronic sounds, keyboard melodies, manipulated beat loops, and guitar textures. Dark Constellations’ debut EP, “For Tomorrow”, was released in June, 2018 on paper+sound.

Dark Constellations contribute new recording “The Black Sea of Trees” as an exclusive track to Quiet Drones 10. Recorded in the fall of 2018, “The Black Sea of Trees” is comprised of shifting, evocative and at times unsettling textures, opening with a bed of looped pulsating tones, with filtered field recordings, static noise, and flickering electronics gradually introduced in layers.
